JOBO photoGPS Unit
I am planning a trip through BC wine country. Our summer travels will take us through one of the most beautiful regions in Canada. When we return I want to be able to organize my photos quickly and efficiently. I will not have time to go through all my photos and tag them individually, so I need a way to keep track of the locations while I am shooting. One of the best ways to do this is by using a GPS unit. GPS units record geo-data (latitude, longitude and height) so that you can sort your photos by this information as they are uploaded to a computer. The GPS unit I chose for my trip is the JOBO photo GPS unit.
The reason why I chose the JOBO photoGPS unit is because it is compact and light-weight. It attaches to the hot shoe of any DSLR, and records the geo-data as you shoot each photograph. Another nice thing about the JOBO photoGPS unit is that it consumes very low levels of power. One battery charge will last up to 4 weeks of use, so I don’t have to worry about charging it during my two week trip.
I also chose this GPS unit because it includes easy to use organizing and viewing software. When I am in the process of searching, sorting and organizing my wine country photos I will be able to do so by region and street. The organizing and viewing software will also indicate points of interest (POI). For example, if I was to travel to Paris France and take photographs surrounding the Eiffel Tower, the Geo Tag software would indicate my POI so that I could easily locate all my photographs in the surrounding area of the Eiffel Tower.
GPS units are the perfect way to stay organized while traveling to new places. It is useful for any on-location, or recreational photographer and will save you a lot of time in the organizing and searching process. I recommend this product to anyone who owns a DSLR.
